The Sanilac County Community Foundation is pleased to announce that Tori Smith, 2019 graduate of Carsonville-Port Sanilac High School, is the recipient of the Daryl Walker Scholarship
Tori Smith is the daughter of Timothy and Michelle Smith of Carsonville. During high school she participated in volleyball, basketball, track & field, 4-H, FFA, National Honor Society (secretary her senior year). She also attended the Sanilac Career Center where she was in Biotechnology and studied animal science. Tori plans to attend Baker College to pursue an Associate’s Degree as a Veterinary Technician.
The $1,000.00 scholarship was created in memory of Daryl Walker, former teacher and superintendent of Carsonville-Pt. Sanilac Schools (CPS). Walker had a long history of making a positive impact on youth in the local community. “Daryl’s final wish was to be able to continue to promote education for our community’s youth”, stated Walker’s wife, Nona.
