The Sanilac County Community Foundation is pleased to announce Jayden Turland as the 2026 recipient of the Carol Crake Scholarship.
Jayden Turland is the daughter of Tania Kernstock and Aaron Skacal, who have always supported her throughout her academic and personal journey. She graduated from Brown City High School with a 3.9 GPA. During high school, she was actively involved in both leadership and extracurricular activities serving as Vice President of the National Honor Society (NHS), Secretary of M.I.T.E.S., and Class Secretary. She was recognized at the Honors Banquet for two consecutive years and participated in the Honors Ceremony for her academic achievements. Additionally, she was a member of the varsity softball team, helping earn two district championships, two league championships, one regional championship, a quarterfinal title, a semifinal title, and a second-place finish at the state level. Jayden is attending Delta College pursuing a degree in Cosmetology Management while also attending Bayshire Beauty Academy to earn her cosmetology license.
The Carol Crake Scholarship was established to assist a graduating senior from Brown City, Imlay City or North Branch in obtaining their future goals while attending college. Applicants must have a GPA of 2.2 or above.
