This scholarship was established in memory of Barbara Oldford-Edwards. The purpose of the scholarship is to “Welcome Home” students who have received a 2 or 4-year degree in nursing who wish to “come home” and work/live in Sanilac County.
The Cass City Promise strives to stimulate the community by creating a culture and financial support for postsecondary education (college or trade school) for all Cass City High School graduates. Components of the Promise include both a Children’s Savings Account (Red Hawk Nest Egg) and Scholarship (Red Hawk Flight). All gifts given here will be added to the Cass City Promise and will be used to sustain the program, its purpose, and some student incentives.
This fund has been established in memory of Dave Hall, who was dedicated to his profession, the community, and his family and friends. He proudly wore a badge for Sanilac County for 49 years as a member of the Sanilac County Sheriff, Croswell, Lexington, and Peck Police Departments. Day or night, on duty or off, his dedication as a first responder was unwavering. To provide funds for the education, training, or equipment needs of a department or another first responder is an ideal way to honor his memory.
The Community Endowment Fund is a collection of permanent, undesignated (or broadly directed) endowment funds, the income from which supports annual grants for the enrichment of local communities. Donors to the Community Enrichment Fund understand that this is a permanent and flexible way to ensure their donations are used where the needs and opportunities are greatest.
All donations received by the Sanilac County Community Foundation that are not designated for a particular fund, are placed into the Community Endowment Fund. The funds are then used to support grants that improve and enrich the lives of County residents. Grants are distributed 2 times per year. More information can be found on our Grants page.
This fund is intended to generate public support for the special programs, projects, and operations of the Croswell Boy Scouts.
The Croswell Rotary Club established this fund in memory of Ty Gorton. It was created to assist Croswell-Lexington High School students paying for “Team Summer Sports Camps”. The emphasis of this fund is helping those in need. Eligibility is limited to students with an academic grade of “C or above”.
This fund has been established to support a variety of philanthropic endeavors throughout Sanilac County. The Tubbs family wishes to continue and inspire a legacy of giving back to their community.
To commemorate the many years of service that Don Thomas has given to the first responder community. Funds will be used in support of the Carsonville-Port Sanilac Police, Fire, and EMS Support Services.
The Dr. Andrew J. Hull Fund was established in March of 2021 to honor his legacy as a strong supporter of the Sandusky Cross Country Team. Drew, as he was called by his friends, was a 1978 graduate of Sandusky High School and a member of the Cross Country team with Coach Wayne Roberts. Throughout his life, he remained close with his classmates and hometown friend and became a strong supporter of the Cross Country Club mostly as an anonymous donor who supplied their basic needs. His friends want to continue his legacy by establishing this fund and creating lasting support for this cause while honoring the life of their forever friend.
Dr. Elfrieda Conrad has been in practice in Sandusky since 1952. When she established her fund, she chose the Kentuckiana Children Center, which services special needs children. The fund was established in 1957 as a non-profit organization and was moved to the SCCF in 1998. Her wish is to continue chiropractic healthcare to children.
For those in of you who are looking for a way to support our local non-profits as they provide extra services during this time, the Foundation is providing a centralized place for giving that will guarantee that 100 percent of funds raised will be used locally in response to the coronavirus. This Emergency Assistance Fund will help support the organizations caring for and assisting vulnerable populations throughout Sanilac County as we navigate these unprecedented times. One hundred percent of all funds will be distributed for coronavirus relief with no administrative fees. Funds will be released on a rolling basis throughout the outbreak and recovery phases of the crisis.

We are partnering with Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library to provide FREE books to every child in Sanilac County from birth through age 5. Register children will receive an age-appropriate book mailed directly to them every month. This fund supports those efforts.
Being highly involved in, and concerned about, their community, the Donovans of Croswell founded this endowment fund in March of 1999. It provides annual grants for special projects in the community as determined each year by the Fund’s Advisory Board.
In the future, teachers will be able to apply for education grants. These education grants are designed to enhance classroom instruction, through the implementation of new curriculum and/or programs.
This fund was established to provide preservation and mission-related support for the Marlette Historical Society/Depot Museum.
The Friends of the Marlette Pool & Parks are on a mission to rebuild and restore the Marlette Pool so it can be used for generations to come. All gifts given here will be added to the fund used to accomplish this task.
The financial effects of COVID-19 on our local healthcare organizations include not only increased costs in preparing for patient care, but also a significant loss of revenue due to restricted services and appointment cancellations. The health and safety of our patients, healthcare workers, and community is our top priority and we will remain true to our mission. We are extremely grateful to have our community’s support alongside us in the effort. The Purl L. and Helen B. Wark fund was formed for the support and benefit of the Croswell-Lexington Athletic Department Track and Field events. This permanently endowed fund provides support for the Track, Field, and Cross Country programs as well as to purchase equipment for these sports.
This fund was established to provide mission-related support for the Sanilac Area Violence Elimination Council. The fund was established in recognition of the SAVE Council’s 20 years of service in Sanilac County. The SAVE Council directly oversees the operation of EVAS Place, Sanilac County’s only domestic violence shelter designated for women and children. The council also provides the community with prevention education.
The Sanilac Backpack Fund was established to help in the efforts of local individuals to make sure that no student spends the weekend hungry. The fund will grant out in support of weekend food backpack programs county-wide on an annual basis. These weekend backpack programs provide a backpack every weekend during the school year to students who may not have a secure food source. Each backpack is assembled locally by volunteers and cost approximately $100 per year, per student. It is a combined effort of several area schools, churches, organizations, businesses, and individuals.
Established in 1997 by the Red Cross Chapter of Sanilac County, this fund was organized to perpetuate the wishes of various donors that Red Cross services, specifically the Blood Bank services, remain in Sanilac County. Distributions from these earnings go toward promotional and maintenance programs for blood donations.
The Sanilac County Promise Fund program was established in 2017 with the promise that every child that starts kindergarten in Sanilac County will automatically receive a long-term savings account that will have the opportunity for growth throughout their K-12 years. Upon graduation, the money saved in their Promise Fund can be used for any post-secondary attainment. All gifts given here will be added to the Promise Fund Endowment and will be used to sustain the program, its purpose, and some student incentives.
The Sanilac Rescue Mission is a combined effort of several area churches, organizations, businesses, and individuals who believe in providing shelter with a purpose.

Gary & Donna Sefton and Paul & Faye Leggett believed strongly in the value of hard work, community, generosity and partnership. Their mission through this Legacy Fund is to afford designated Sanilac County organizations/institutions or individuals an opportunity to receive financial assistance for the benefit of all in the community. In the spirit of this, the Legacy Fund will support four distinct missions: The Sanilac County Sheriff’s Office, The Sanilac County Humane Society, Veterans of Sanilac County, and Breast Cancer Support. This will be completed by assisting with grant matches, scholarships, equipment or specialized training to support the good work of residents in Sanilac County.
The mission of the fund is to help even the playing field for all Sanilac County children. It is recognized that some children, through no fault of their own, find themselves in circumstances that do more to prevent success than to encourage it. The goal of the fund is to help maximize the life potential of these children. The fund accomplishes this by providing grant monies to quality programs designed to give these children a step up.
This fund was established to provide an additional avenue to which Thumb’s Up For Kids donors could contribute money. Income from this fund is distributed to Thumb’s Up For Kids annually to help provide a special “wish” for children of the Thumb Region who have a terminal or life-threatening illness.
This fund was established in appreciation of Sanilac County. This community was a wonderful place for the Buskirk family to live and do business. This fund is intended to enhance life in Sanilac County.
A passion to provide cultivation and support for fine, performing, and creative arts for residents of Sanilac County drove Donald and Carolyn Tubbs and their families to establish this fund in 1998. Awards of grants or scholarships are at the discretion of the Fund’s Advisory Board.
