The Cass City Promise strives to stimulate the community by creating a culture and financial support for postsecondary education (college or trade school) for all Cass City High School graduates. Components of the Promise include both a Children’s Savings Account (Red Hawk Nest Egg) and Scholarship (Red Hawk Flight). All gifts given here will be added to the Cass City Promise and will be used to sustain the program, its purpose, and some student incentives.
Dr. Elfrieda Conrad has been in practice in Sandusky since 1952. When she established her fund, she chose the Kentuckiana Children Center, which services special needs children. The fund was established in 1957 as a non-profit organization and was moved to the SCCF in 1998. Her wish is to continue chiropractic healthcare to children.
We are partnering with Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library to provide FREE books to every child in Sanilac County from birth through age 5. Register children will receive an age-appropriate book mailed directly to them every month. This fund supports those efforts.
The Sanilac Backpack Fund was established to help in the efforts of local individuals to make sure that no student spends the weekend hungry. The fund will grant out in support of weekend food backpack programs county-wide on an annual basis. These weekend backpack programs provide a backpack every weekend during the school year to students who may not have a secure food source. Each backpack is assembled locally by volunteers and cost approximately $100 per year, per student. It is a combined effort of several area schools, churches, organizations, businesses, and individuals.
The prevention of child abuse requires continuous education. The Sanilac County Child Abuse Prevention Council (SCCAPC) promotes the safe and healthy development of children and families through community education and development. SCCAPC acknowledges that by being a part of the Sanilac County Community Foundation, additional funds can be directed toward their program. This fund was founded in April of 2002 through vision and caring on the part of the SCCAPC Council.
The Sanilac County Promise Fund program was established in 2017 with the promise that every child that starts kindergarten in Sanilac County will automatically receive a long-term savings account that will have the opportunity for growth throughout their K-12 years. Upon graduation, the money saved in their Promise Fund can be used for any post-secondary attainment. All gifts given here will be added to the Promise Fund Endowment and will be used to sustain the program, its purpose, and some student incentives.
The mission of the fund is to help even the playing field for all Sanilac County children. It is recognized that some children, through no fault of their own, find themselves in circumstances that do more to prevent success than to encourage it. The goal of the fund is to help maximize the life potential of these children. The fund accomplishes this by providing grant monies to quality programs designed to give these children a step up.
This fund was established to provide an additional avenue to which Thumb’s Up For Kids donors could contribute money. Income from this fund is distributed to Thumb’s Up For Kids annually to help provide a special “wish” for children of the Thumb Region who have a terminal or life-threatening illness.
YAC is made up of representatives from all seven county high schools. Its purpose is to positively impact the lives of young people under the age of 21. Grants are disbursed by the YAC from its fund within the Sanilac County Community Foundation.
