The Sanilac County Community Foundation is pleased to announce the recipient of the Fred Cady Scholarship is Carleigh Nickens.
Carleigh Nickens, a 2020 graduate of Marlette Jr./Sr. High School and the Sanilac Career Center. She plans to attend Aquinas College this fall to study health sciences while playing softball. Following her undergraduate studies, she plans to attend graduate school to become a pediatric occupational therapist. Throughout high school, Carleigh was involved in softball, cross country, basketball, volleyball, track, National Honor Society, HOSA, student Council, BPA, 4-H, and prom committee. Carleigh is the daughter of Mike and Lore Nickens.
The Fred Cady Scholarship Fund was established in September of 1998 by the Sanilac County Association of School Boards to honor Fred Cady, who retired after 22 years as an educator and administrator in Sanilac County. This scholarship is given annually for the educational needs of the Sanilac County area as determined by the Fund Advisory Board. It is administered through the Sanilac County Community Foundation.
