The Sanilac County Community Foundation is pleased to announce that Sydney Rye, graduate of Marlette Jr/Sr High School is one of the 2019 recipients of the Marlette Art Scholarship.

Sydney is the daughter of Thomas and Angela Rye of Clifford.  She is attending the University of Minnesota for a major in Anthropology and a minor in Russian language, literature, and culture.  In her spare time, she enjoys creating art, reading, and writing letters to her friends and family. Sydney intends on pursuing a PhD, and later becoming a professor of Anthropology.

This scholarship was established to recognize the artistic talents of students at Marlette High School. To apply for this scholarship, students must upload a photo of a self-made work of art along with a personal essay answering the question, “What is Art?”.
