The Sanilac County Community Foundation is pleased to announce the recipient of the Mike Stevens Scholarship is Phillip Marshall de la Sotta.

Phillip Marshall de la Sotta, a 2019 graduate of Marlette Jr./Sr. High School is the grandson of Juan Carlos and LuAnn de la Sotta.  During high school, he participated in the concert and marching band, jazz band, solo and ensemble, Sanilac County Honors Band, U of M Honors Band, student council, drama club, and Quiz Bowl.  Phillip was also the percussion section leader in band during his junior year and Drum Major his senior year.  Phillip plans to attend Ferris State University.

The Mike Stevens Scholarship was established in 2005, in Mike’s memory, by his family and coworkers at the Sanilac County Department of Human Services.  It is available to area high school graduating students who have maintained a 2.0 GPA and have been accepted for admission to an accredited college or university.  Eligible students must have demonstrated the desire and determination to meet and overcome personal/family challenges or obstacles in achieving his/her educational goals.
