The Sanilac County Community Foundation is pleased to announce one of this year’s 2023 Sandusky High School graduates, Amelia Huysentruyt as the recipient of the Doug and Rose Banker Scholarship.
Amelia plans to attend Siena Heights University to study Music Theatre and Music. Such a passion sprung from her parents Jake and Liz Huysentruyt who are music educators. Consequently, Amelia was exposed to community theatre and piano lessons at a young age and grew to play trombone in the Sandusky Bands, become quite involved in the drama club, take up private voice lessons, but also be involved in Academic Games, Student Council, and the National Honors Society. Amelia is also heavily involved in St. Joseph Catholic Church where she was able to discern her passions through cantoring weekly.
The Douglas and Rose Banker scholarship was established by the Bankers in support of a Sandusky High School Graduate pursuing post-secondary education. Doug and Rose have been long-time residents and involved community members in Sandusky. Their hope is that this fund inspires and encourages local graduates to pursue their educational goals.
This scholarship is administered through the Sanilac County Community Foundation (SCCF). For more information on scholarship opportunities through the Sanilac County Community Foundation, contact the Foundation office at 810-648-3634.
