The Sanilac County Community Foundation is pleased to announce that Quinn Bobbio and Kobie Down, 2020 graduates of Carsonville-Port Sanilac High School, are the recipients of the Edward and Amelia Falls Scholarship.

Quinn is the daughter of Christopher and Sheila Bobbio of Carsonville. She is planning to attend St. Clair County Community College this fall for a year or two and then transferring to Saginaw Valley State University where she will be pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Techonology. Quinn graduated from Carsonville-Port Sanilac High School as the fifth ranking student in her class. She played varsity girls basketball for four years and was the woodwind section leader in both concert and marching bad for four years. Quinn also was the secretary in the National Honor Society for two years and the band’s student treasurer for four years.

Kobie is the son of Roger and Jammie Sampier and Michael and Bobbi Down. He grew up loving animals when he was young and also like practicing archery in his spare time. Kobie went to Carsonville-Port Sanilac Schools his entire school career. During high school he was in the National Honor Society and Student Council. He decided to look into jobs in the medical field because he had health issues which caused him to go to the doctors often when he was younger. Last summer Kobie went to Delta Health and Wellness Camp, while there he tried many health fields including respiratory therapy, which he enjoyed and is now planning to pursue a career in.  This fall he plans to attend St. Clair County Community College to study respiratory therapy.

The Edward & Amelia Falls Scholarship was established by Philomena Falls, a prominent Lexington resident since 1971 who passed away in 2008 at the age of 99.  She was a strong supporter of public education, having spent more than forty one years in elementary education in the United States, Germany and Japan.  After her retirement, she demonstrated her commitment to the education of Sanilac County residents through her leadership on the Moore Public Library Board in Lexington from 1972 until 1999.
