The Sanilac County Community Foundation is pleased to announce that Jenna Davis, graduate from Carsonville-Port Sanilac Schools is the recipient of the Daniel James Brabant Scholarship.
Jenna is the daughter of Michael and Karen Davis of Carsonville. Jenna has been involved in many sports and activities at the school. She has been a part of the National Honor Society since her junior year. Jenna has been the secretary of Student Council since her freshman year. She has helped organize activities associated with homecoming at school, including spirit week, games during the pep assembly, and the parade. Jenna is a very active person in sports. She plays volleyball, basketball, and softball. She leads by example, and hopes she has made a positive impact on all of her teammates. Jenna plans on continuing this throughout her college and work career. As part of a team she has planned and started many fundraisers and has raised money for special things that they may have needed throughout their seasons, meaning new volleyball poles, new or more jerseys, new nets, more basketballs, and many more. Jenna has organized a car wash at the Port-Sanilac Fire Department. She is involved in a lot throughout her community by being in YAC (Youth Advisory Council), and participated every year in cardboard city, which brings awareness to the problem of the homelessness. Jenna also babysat for a family whose daughter was born with hydrocephalus and has been through many surgeries since she has been born. This experience has strengthened her desire to obtain a career in healthcare. After high school, Jenna will be working at Autumnwood Nursing home of Deckerville and helping her dad out as much as she can with their own Nature’s Best business, and she plans to attend St. Clair Community College to get a degree in nursing next fall.
This scholarship has been created to commemorate the life of Daniel James Brabant. Dan was a graduate from Carsonville-Port Sanilac High School. He graduated with Honors from Michigan State University with a degree in Business and Economics and was an avid bow hunter, weight lifter, and Michigan State Fan.
