Sanilac County Community Foundation is pleased to announce that Hannah Marshall and Lexi Wilhelmsen are this year’s recipients of the Cheryl Thomas Memorial Scholarship.
Hannah Marshall is the daughter of Jim and Heather Marshall of Marlette. During high school, Hannah participated in basketball, National Honor Society, Business Professionals of America, Student Council, and youth group. This fall Hannah will begin her college career at Bethel College in Mishawaka, Indiana. Her intended major of study will be Elementary Education.
Lexi Wilhelmsen is the daughter of David and Lisa Wilhelmsen of Marlette. She participated in Quiz Bowl, National Honor Society, Business Professionals of America, Student Council, Social Studies Academic Games, Out-of-Doors Club, and is active at the Marlette Second Presbyterian Church. She also participated in cross country, basketball, and track. She was selected as First Team Academic All-Conference in the GTC East, and was Salutatorian of her class. Lexi plans to attend Lake Superior State University in the fall to pursue a degree in Forensic Chemistry
The Cheryl Thomas Memorial Scholarship Fund was established in her memory in 2004 by her family. Cheryl had been a long-time coach in the Marlette Schools.
Eligible applicants for the annual scholarship must be graduating seniors of Marlette High School and have participated in sports.
