The Sanilac County Community Foundation is pleased to announce Payton Daggett as the 2025 recipient of the Richard M. Coffelt Memorial Scholarship.

Payton Daggett, son of Roger and Shomie Daggett, graduated from Croswell-Lexington High School. Born in Ohio, Payton was adopted into his family, whom he credits with shaping him into the young man he is today. He is deeply thankful for his parents, Roger and Shomie, who have worked tirelessly to give him the best life possible. Payton is attending Saginaw Valley State University, where he is majoring in early childhood education with the goal of earning his bachelor’s degree and focusing on third grade. He is also continuing his experience in color guard and musical theatre in college, as they are something he is truly passionate about.

The Richard M. Coffelt Memorial Scholarship was established in honor of Richard M. Coffelt, who was a Band Director and Music Educator for 24 years. It is awarded to a Croswell-Lexington graduating senior who is actively involved in band and demonstrates the qualities of musicality and dedication with the hopes of promoting music education.

This scholarship is administered through the Sanilac County Community Foundation (SCCF). For more information on scholarship opportunities, visit www.SanilacFoundation.org or contact the Community Foundation office at 810-648-3634.
