Dale Siemen, the 2015 Salutatorian of Carsonville-Port Sanilac High School, has been named this year’s recipient of the Daryl Walker Scholarship.
Dale, the son of Matt and Sandra Siemen of Carsonville, will attend Oakland University in the fall to study business. He has been involved in National Honor Society volunteering his time to school concessions, scotch doubles and food drives. He donates his time to volunteer for the American Red Cross Blood Drives, Senior Citizen Prom and the Sanilac Humane Society. Dale has participated in basketball and golf throughout high school.
The $1,000.00 scholarship was created in memory of Daryl Walker, former teacher and superintendent of Carsonville-Pt. Sanilac Schools (CPS). Walker had a long history of making a positive impact on youth in the local community. “Daryl’s final wish was to be able to continue to promote education for our community’s youth”, stated Walker’s wife, Nona. “We are pleased to award this scholarship to Dale Siemen”.
This scholarship is administered by the Sanilac County Community Foundation. For more information on scholarship opportunities through the Sanilac County Community Foundation, contact Melissa Anderson, Executive Director, at the Foundation office at 810-648-3634.
