The Sanilac County Community Foundation announces that Mary Pangburn, graduate of Sandusky Jr/Sr High School, has been selected as the 2023 recipient of the Mark S. Hund Memorial Scholarship Fund.
Biography: As a 2023 graduate from Sandusky High School, I am incredibly excited for this next chapter in my life! In August I will be moving to attend the University of Virginia to receive my undergraduate degree on a pre-law tract. It is with the Mark S. Hund scholarship that I am able to pursue furthering my education and for that I am incredibly grateful. Throughout my time at SHS I have been associated with many groups including NHS, Russel Wakefield American Legion post 369, James Connolly VFW post 2945, Stonegate Village Assisted Living, Custer Masonic Lodge post 393, and many others. My overall goal throughout my life is to do the most good that I possibly can. I am lucky enough to live in a community that instills the values of helping each other and I wanted to reciprocate that sense of community back to my hometown through volunteer work. My family and community is a support system that I will always have to fall back on as I embark on my undergraduate career that is made possible by the Mark S. Hund scholarship!
The Mark S. Hund Memorial Scholarship was established in 1997 in memory of Mark, a long-time principal of Sandusky High School. It is awarded annually to a Sandusky High School senior who has shown strength and determination. It is available for any form of career training or education.
