The Sanilac County Community Foundation is pleased to announce that the William and Verna Wark Family Scholarship recipient is Rylee Dawn French.
Rylee was the 2021 Valedictorian at Peck High School. During graduation ceremony she was awarded the citizenship award, sportsmanship award, and dedicated athlete award. During her high school career, she was a three-sport athlete (volleyball, basketball, and track). Rylee held the role as Captain of the volleyball team in 2021. Awards received; coaches award for volleyball, academic awards for Core Classes throughout her high school career. She was active in the high school band, enjoyed being a part of the drama club and community service was a big part of her high school career (Adopt-A-Highway, PHS Backpack program, shop with a hero, bingo with senior citizens at Medilodge, Yale, Sanilac County Senior Prom, Sanilac county Senior Fair, Concessions at Peck sporting events, Llink Technologies Adopt-A-Fanily Program, Food Bank (Melvin United Methodist Church). Rylee will be attending Saginaw Valley State University.
This scholarship was created in memory of William and Verna Wark by their daughter Rhea Currie. Rhea attended and graduated from Peck Schools. The scholarship is to be awarded to a student that best represents the values that William and Verna were known for, such as community involvement, resilient relationships with their family and friends, a strong work ethic, and a love of reading and learning.
