The Sanilac County Community Foundation is pleased to announce that Samantha Kneebone, graduate of Brown City High School is the 2021 recipient of the David Chmielewski “Mr. C” Scholarship.
Samantha is the daughter of Jeanne and Jim Kneebone. She attended Brown City Community Schools from her Kindergarten to Senior year, earning a seat at the prestigious Honors Banquet for 5 years and graduating as the Class of 2021 Valedictorian. Samantha also was a member of the Brown City Bands for 6 years, as a Section Leader for 5 of those years. In addition, she was the 2021 Team Captain on the Robotics team, graduating having won 4 district championships throughout her 4 years of participation. At the Sanilac Career Center, Samantha held the FFA officer positions of Vice President and Treasurer during her two years of attendance in the Biotechnology Program. Outside of school, Samantha has earned her black belt at the Absolute martial arts dojo and has been an active member of her Church, 4-H club, and Mackinac Island Honor Guard troop for many years. Samantha will be attending Kettering University for a degree in Industrial Engineering. Samantha is grateful for the generosity of her community and looks forward to being able to give back to the community that gave her so much.
This scholarship was established to honor the memory of David Chmielewski “Mr. C” who was a teacher at Brown City. Eligible students will be attending college (either community college or a 4-year university) to study in a science field and/or agriculture. They will possess a GPA of 3.0 or greater and demonstrate work ethic, volunteerism, and community service.
