The Sanilac County Community Foundation is pleased to announce Emily Newland, a 2024 Marlette High School graduate as one of the recipients of the 2024 Fred Cady Scholarship.
Emily is the daughter of Gary and Kerri Newland, the youngest of four children. She is attending Central Michigan University to obtain a bachelors in Elementary Education and a minor in leadership. Emily was involved in YAC (Youth Advisory Council), National Honor Society, Varsity Softball, Varsity Basketball, Student Council and accumulated numerous volunteer hours.
The Fred Cady Scholarship Fund was established in September of 1998 by the Sanilac County Association of School Boards to honor Fred Cady, who retired after 22 years as an educator and administrator in Sanilac County. This scholarship is given annually for the educational needs of the Sanilac County area as determined by the Fund Advisory Board. It is administered through the Sanilac County Community Foundation.
