The Sanilac County Community Foundation is pleased to announce 2024 Sandusky High School graduate, Helena Long as one of the recipients of the Dr. Andrew J. Hull Cross Country Scholarship.
Helena is the daughter of Scott and Jennifer Long. During her time at Sandusky High School, she was a part of the Varsity Basketball, Varsity Golf, and Varsity Cross Country teams. During her athletics, Helena was a part of four league championships three times. Aside from athletics, Helena was a member of the National Honor Society for two years, and a member of Student Council for one year where she served as class president. Helena is attending Grand Valley State University to pursue a degree in Biology, while studying pre-dental.
This fund continues the legacy of Dr. Hull, who was a strong supporter of the Sandusky Cross Country Team. Drew, as he was called by his friends, was a 1978 graduate of Sandusky High School and a member of the first Cross Country team with Coach Wayne Roberts. Throughout his life, he remained close with his classmates and hometown friends. As an anonymous donor to the Cross-Country Club, he supplied their basic needs on a yearly basis. His friends want to continue his legacy by establishing this fund and creating lasting support for this cause while honoring the life of their forever friend.
This scholarship is administered through the Sanilac County Community Foundation. For more information on scholarship opportunities through the SCCF, contact the Foundation office at 810-648-3634.
