The Sanilac County Community Foundation is pleased to announce that Brett Bearss is one of the recipients of the John Wilder Memorial Scholarship for 2024.

Brett Martin Bearss is the son of Carrie and Brian Bearss. He is a member of the National Honors Society, serves as a Pass mentor for Yale High School, and is a four-year recipient of the Yale Board of Education Award and the Yale High School Academic Letter. Brett participated in football, basketball, track and field, and baseball, earning 12 varsity letters, league awards in football and track, and Blue Water Area Conference All-Academic Team honors in all four sports. Brett will begin his college education at St. Clair County Community College with plans to transfer to Michigan State University to pursue a degree in Chemical Engineering.

The John Wilder Memorial Scholarship was established by John’s family in his memory in 2010. It is available to eligible graduating student athletes at Peck and Yale High Schools.
