The Sanilac County Community Foundation is pleased to announce Baleigh Brooks is this year’s Stanley G. Herron Memorial Scholarship recipient.
Baleigh is the daughter of CJ and Tiffany Brooks of Marlette. Baleigh plans to attend Delta Community College this fall for her general education courses and then transfer to Saginaw Valley State University to study special education. During high school, she participated in varsity cheerleading all four years, student council senior year, 4-H, and dance.
Stanley G. Herron was born January 16, 1905 in Port Sanilac. In the spring of 1908, the family moved to Marlette and Stanley spent 30 years on a farm 4 miles northeast of town. After leaving the farm, he was co-owner and operator of the Standard Service Station at the corner of Main and Ervin Streets in Marlette for 30 years. Stanley received all of his schooling in Marlette and graduated with the Class of 1925.
Eligible applicants for the annual scholarship must be graduating seniors of Marlette High School and the recipient will be determined by the Stanley G. Herron Memorial Scholarship Fund Committee.
