The Sanilac County Community Foundation is pleased to announce that the recipients of the Dr. R.K. Hart / American Legion Scholarship are Grace Barrett and Selena Torrez.

Grace plans to attend St. Clair County Community College this fall for two years and then transfer to a University.  She plans to be an art therapist or an art teacher.

Selena is a graduate of Croswell – Lexington High School.  During high school she took various art classes both dealing with digital art, such as yearbook for two years and also desktop publishing.  She has also taken various drawn art classes.  By taking these courses, it helped her become an open-minded person and seeing things in different perspectives.  Selena is a teammate of the Cros-Lex Powerlifting Club and which this past year received their seventh straight State Championship title.  Selena is the daughter of Pauline and Lupe Torres of Croswell.  This fall she plans to attend St. Clair County Community College to pursue a degree in Graphic Design with the intent to transfer to a University after two years.

The DR. R.K. Hart/American Legion Scholarship is designated for students that have been enrolled in one of the industrial arts and/or fine arts classes at Croswell-Lexington High School.

This scholarship is administered through the Sanilac County Community Foundation (SCCF).  For more information on scholarship opportunities through the Sanilac County Community Foundation, contact Melissa Anderson, Executive Director, at the Foundation office at 810-648-3634.
