The Sanilac County Community Foundation is pleased to announce that $31,175 in combined grants were given to the following entities.

Camp Cavell Conservancy, Lexington Arts Council, Blue Water Folk Society, Croswell Food Truck, Sanilac ISD Special Ed Program, Heaven Sent, Delta Kappa Gamma Beta Tau, Thumb Fiber Fest, Port Sanilac Farmers Market, Croswell Lions, Maple Valley Parents & Staff, Food-4-Friends, Marlette Regional Hospital, Sanilac County Humane Society, Croswell-Lexington High School Band Boosters, Cros-Lex Project Blessing.

At the Sanilac County Community Foundation (SCCF) meeting held in June, recipients of the spring, 2017 grant round were on hand to receive their grant funds and to describe their funded projects.

Camp Cavell Conservancy, received a $2,950 grant, funded by the YAC (Youth Advisory Council) and Oldford Family Fund to be used toward camping scholarships for the summer of 2017.

 

 

The Lexington Arts Council received a $2,050 grant from the SCCF Board Discretionary Fund and the Oldford Family Fund for free youth admission and general support of the 2017 Lexington Bach Festival.

 

 

The Blue Water Folk Society received $1,375 from the SCCF Board Discretionary Fund to implement a community involvement track for the Thumbfest music festival.

 

 

 

The Croswell Food Truck, received a grant totaling $3,300 from the MI Health & SCCF Board Discretionary Funds. The grant will be used to purchase a food truck(s) for summer food distributions and to help purchase a floor scrubber for their distribution facility.

 

 

The Sanilac ISD Special Ed Program will be using their grant of $1,350 to make classroom materials go further and function better by purchasing 2 pouch laminating machines. The grant request was fully funded by the YAC (Youth Advisory Council) Fund.

 

 

Heaven Sent Ministries received $4,000 through the MI Health Fund to be used toward food purchase and distribution.

 

 

 

Delta Kappa Gamma Beta Tau receive full funding of their grant request of $1,500 from the SCCF Board Discretionary Fund. The funds will be used to support the Read to Me project.

 

 

Thumb Fiber Fest received $500 from the SCCF Board Discretionary Fund to support the general operations of the 2017 Thumb Fiber Fest event.

 

 

 

The Port Sanilac Farmers Market received a grant totaling $1,250 from the YAC & SCCF Board Discretionary Funds. The grant will be used for an interactive children’s area that can be accessed during the market days.

 

 

The Croswell Lions received $1,000 from the YAC Fund, which will be used to construct a Storybook Walk in downtown Croswell where community members can take a stroll and read a new children’s book every month.

 

 

Maple Valley Parents & Staff received an $800 combined grant from the YAC & SCCF Board Discretionary Funds. The grant will help purchase water hydration stations to be used at the Sandusky Elementary School.

 

 

Food-4-Friends received $4,000 from the MI Health Fund in support of 3 summer food distributions.

 

 

 

Marlette Regional Hospital (MRH) received $3,100 from the MI Health Fund in support of a new Community Garden project located on the MRH campus in Marlette.

 

 

Sanilac County Humane Society was the recipient of a $2,000 from the Oldford Family Fund which will be used for general operating expenses and special projects at the shelter.

Croswell-Lexington High School Band Boosters was granted $1,000 from the Oldford Family Fund.

Cros-Lex Project Blessing received a general support grant of $1,000 from the Oldford Family Fund.
