The Sanilac County Community Foundation is pleased to announce that $14,452.00 in combined grants were given to the following entities:
Sanilac Intermediate School District; Croswell Lions Club; Sandusky Lions Club; McKenzie Health System.
At the Sanilac County Community Foundation (SCCF) meeting held in December, recipients of the fall, 2015 grant round were on hand to receive their grant funds and to describe their funded projects.
Sanilac Intermediate School District received a grant, funded by the Oldford Fund and the Steps 4 Success Fund to be used toward a Sway Fun Glider. The glider is a part of an ongoing playground construction project which started in June of 2015. The Sway Fun Glider can be used with students of all ages. Students of all abilities will be able to learn, play and grow together.
Croswell Lions Club received a grant, funded by the Oldford Fund to be used toward the Goodfellow Project. The project is to be used for the purchase of food, coats, boots, underwear, socks, and pajamas for children and families in need, focusing on children of pre-school age through 4th grade.
Sandusky Lions Club received a grant, funded by the Oldford Fund and the Steps 4 Success Fund to be used toward a KidSight; mobile screening trailer & updated camera. The camera and trailer will be used to screen children age 5 and under to identify potential vision problems in hopes of identifying and correcting the problems before they enter school.
McKenzie Health System received a grant, funded by the Steps 4 Success Fund which is being used toward a new pilot program to fight childhood obesity. The partnership with Thumb Elite Athletics will provide 4 groups of 20 youth participants with a child friendly and educational fitness class spanning 5 weeks while a dietitian provides parents with a healthy eating class.
