The Sanilac County Community Foundation is pleased to announce that Makayla Blashill is the 2024 recipient of the Hewitt-Riley Scholarship.
Makayla Blashill, daughter of Mike and Katie Blashill, graduated from Croswell-Lexington High School. She grew up on her family’s farm where her passion for agriculture began. Makayla decided to further her knowledge about agriculture by becoming part of the Sanilac FFA Chapter where she was later elected President and competed in many contests throughout her time there. Even though she wishes she never had to take off her FFA jacket, it is time for her next adventure in life. Makayla is continuing her education at Missouri Valley College in Marshall, Missouri. There she is studying Agribusiness with a minor in Agronomy while competing on their shotgun sports team.
The Hewitt-Riley Scholarship was established in honor of Thomas Hewitt, a Croswell-Lexington High School Graduate, by his mother Mary Riley. The scholarship is made available to a Croswell-Lexington student with a 2.5 GPA average who is planning to attend college. Special consideration is given to those entering the field of agricultural studies.
This scholarship is administered through the Sanilac County Community Foundation (SCCF). For more information on scholarship opportunities through the Sanilac County Community Foundation, contact the Community Foundation office at 810-648-3634.
