The Sanilac County Community Foundation is pleased to announce, Marisa Schiller, graduate of Sandusky High School, is this year’s recipient of the Thee Valhalla Scholarship.

Marisa is the daughter of Bob and Amy Schiller. During high school she was a member of the National Honor Society, Student Council, Food 4 Friends, Flags of Remembrance, and many more.  Marisa was the captain of the varsity volleyball and basketball teams, and was also a part of a women’s hockey team and the varsity track team.  This fall Marisa plans to attend Oakland University to major in accounting.

“Valhalla” is Scandinavian for “Viking Heaven”.  Drawing from his Viking heritage and love for math, this fund was established in November of 2002 by a 26-year veteran teacher at Sandusky High School.  The donor, who passed away unexpectedly in 2009, requested that recipients of this scholarship either establish a similar fund themselves or donate back to this fund to perpetuate student interest in mathematics.

The Thee Valhalla Scholarship is administered through the Sanilac County Community Foundation.  For more information on scholarship opportunities through the Sanilac County Community Foundation, contact Melissa Anderson, Executive Director, at the Foundation office at 810-648-3634.

For Good. For Ever.
