The Sanilac County Community Foundation is pleased to announce Samantha Tunich as the 2025 recipient of the Peggy Stencel Memorial Scholarship.

Samantha Tunich, daughter of Todd and Amy Tunich, graduated from Croswell-Lexington High School. During high school, she played volleyball and softball. She was a member of the National Honor Society, Student Council, and the Executive Board for her senior class, regularly volunteering at parades, concessions, and school dances. Samantha is attending St. Clair County Community College pursuing a degree in nursing.

The Peggy Stencel Memorial Scholarship was established in memory of Peggy, who owned and operated Lakeside A&W for 25 years. Peggy was passionate about mentoring young adults and teaching them the value of hard work, employing countless high school students over the years. This scholarship is awarded to Sanilac County high school graduates who have demonstrated excellence in leadership, work ethic, and commitment to community. They must have also maintained a minimum GPA of 3.0 and be pursuing a career in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics), Business, Healthcare or Law. Peggy always supported young adults in their pursuit of higher education, and this scholarship will allow her to continue that legacy.

This scholarship is administered through the Sanilac County Community Foundation (SCCF). For more information on scholarship opportunities, visit www.SanilacFoundation.org or contact the Community Foundation office at 810-648-3634.

For Good. For Ever.
