The Sanilac County Community Foundation is pleased to announce Natalie Lefler and Madeline Huysentruyt as the 2025 recipients of the Gordon Pabst Scholarship.

Natalie Lefler, daughter of Dave and Kim Lefler, graduated from Marlette High School as Salutatorian. During high school, she participated in band, FFA, National Honor Society, Student Council, and varsity soccer, earning many awards in these activities. She also attended the biotechnology program at the career center and earned her Class-A CDL. Natalie is attending Northern Michigan University pursuing a degree in Elementary Education.

Madeline Huysentruyt, daughter of Jacob and Elizabeth Huysentruyt, is a graduate of Sandusky High School. In high school she participated in Student Council, mascot committee, National Honor Society, band, drama, cross country, and track. Maddie is attending Central Michigan University pursuing a degree in Teaching Math and Social Studies for grades 5th through 9th.

The Gordon Pabst Scholarship Fund was established by Mr. Gordon Pabst, a life-long resident of Marlette, who dedicated his life to education working 28 years as an elementary teacher in the Marlette School System. It is awarded to graduating Sanilac County seniors planning to pursue a teaching degree from an accredited university. Preference is given to students from Marlette Community Schools.
