The Sanilac County Community Foundation is pleased to announce Emily Newland as one of the 2024 recipients of the Gordon Pabst Scholarship.
Emily is the daughter of Gary and Kerri Newland and a graduate of Marlette High School. During high school, she was involved in YAC (Youth Advisory Council), National Honor Society, Student Council, varsity softball, varsity basketball and also accumulated numerous volunteer hours. Emily is attending Central Michigan University pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and a minor in Leadership.
The Gordon Pabst Scholarship Fund was established by Mr. Gordon Pabst, a life-long resident of Marlette, who dedicated his life to education working 28 years as an elementary teacher in the Marlette School System. It is awarded to graduating Sanilac County seniors planning to pursue a teaching degree from an accredited university. Preference is given to students from Marlette Community Schools.
