The Sanilac County Community Foundation is pleased to announce one of the 2021 recipients of the Gary Kettlewell Memorial Scholarship is Rhory Boyd.
Rhory is a graduate of Peck High School. She is the daughter of Tim and Barb Boyd of Croswell. Rhory plans to receive bachelors in Crop and Soil Science while attending Michigan State University. In high school, she was in band, softball and FFA through the Sanilac Career Center. Another organization Rhory was involved in was 4-H; she showed many species during her 10 years of participation.
Gary was a 1967 graduate of Peck High School. He joined the Marines while in school and after graduation served in Vietnam. When he returned home from the service he went to college and graduated from Michigan State.
After his father’s death, he returned home to help his Mom run the farm. On April 19, 1985, Gary was on a tractor working the ground when he was struck by lightning and killed. Gary was 35 years old. His Mother established this agricultural scholarship for a Peck High School student in honor of his memory.
