The Sanilac County Community Foundation is pleased to announce Zachary Herman is this year’s Stanley G. Herron Memorial Scholarship recipient. Zachary is the son of John & Lori Herman of Marlette. He plans to attend Kettering University this fall for Computer Engineering. During high school, Zachary participated in track, cross country, hockey, disc golf, ROV team, and National Honors Society.
Stanley G. Herron was born January 16, 1905 in Port Sanilac. In the spring of 1908, the family moved to Marlette and Stanley spent 30 years on a farm 4 miles northeast of town. After leaving the farm, he was co-owner and operator of the Standard Service Station at the corner of Main and Ervin Streets in Marlette for 30 years. Stanley received all of his schooling in Marlette and graduated with the Class of 1925.
Eligible applicants for the annual scholarship must be graduating seniors of Marlette High School and the recipient will be determined by the Stanley G. Herron Memorial Scholarship Fund Committee.
