The Sanilac County Community Foundation is pleased to announce that the 2017 Esther M. Cuppen Scholarship recipients are Madison Kroetsch, Chandler Rizzo, and Taylor Barrett.

Madison Kroetsch is a 2017 graduate of Croswell-Lexington High School.  Throughout high school she played volleyball, basketball and powerlifting.  Madison was a member of the National Honor Society and Student Council.  In the fall, she plans to attend Alma College to study education.  Madison is the daughter of Damon & Traci Kroetsch.

 

 

 

Chandler Rizzo, a 2017 graduate of Carsonville-Port Sanilac Schools.  A lifelong resident of the village of Carsonville, Chandler, son of Paul and Leslie Rizzo.  Chandler was a member of Student Council, National Honor Society, Golf, Quiz Bowl, and Academic Games.  He was appointed a Senior Scholar in his class and was named “Most Contributing Senior”.  Chandler has received countless academic awards over the years, including the WNEM Best and Brightest and the NCTL Academic Honor Award.  He is a two0time participant of the CMU Quiz Central Tournament.  He currently plans to attend Saint Clair County Community College to pursue a teaching degree.

 

Taylor Barrett, a 2017 graduate of Carsonville-Port Sanilac Schools. Taylor is the daughter of Scott and Lynn Barrett of Carsonville. She has attended the Sanilac Career Center Program “Careers in Education” for both her Junior and Senior Year of High School, also participating in Cheerleading the last six years, becoming captain her Senior Year.  Taylor plans to attend Saint Clair County Community College to receive an Associate’s Degree then transfer to Saginaw Valley University to withhold her Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education.

Eligible applicants for the annual scholarship must be graduating seniors of Croswell-Lexington High School and/or Carsonville-Port Sanilac High School who are in need of financial assistance to attend college in the field of education or related field.
