The Sanilac County Community Foundation is pleased to announce that the recipients of the Kent and Lucille Freeland Scholarship are Brooklynn Paradoski and Jaycee Whitley.

Brooklynn is the daughter of Bob and Jeannine Paradoski and her grandparents are Kyle and Sue Burgess and Jerry and Judy Paradoski. She is a 2017 graduate of Croswell-Lexington High School.  Brooklynn was involved in National Honor Society, Pioneer Athletic Leadership Council, Student Council, Executive Board, Senior Citizen Prom, Volleyball, AAU Volleyball, and she also volunteered at many activities and functions.  This fall Brooklynn will be attending Concordia University Ann Arbor to pursue a bachelor’s degree in nursing as well as playing volleyball for Concordia University.

 

Jaycee is the daughter of Ted and Nicole Whitley of Croswell. She is a 2017 graduate of Croswell-Lexington High School. Jaycee was a member of the Cros-Lex Girls Powerlifting and Softball team. She was also a member of the National Honors Society, attended the Sanilac Career Center Biotechnology program, and was the Treasurer of the FFA. She will be attending Michigan State University in the fall to study Food Science and Technology.

 

 

The Kent and Lucille Freeland Scholarship Fund was established in 2016, and has been established for Croswell-Lexington High School graduates who have attained a minimum of a C average in their four years of high school and are in need of financial assistance to attend the accredited college, university, or trade school of their choice.  Preference for one scholarship is to go to a graduate planning to major or significantly study physics and one scholarship to a graduate planning to study chemistry.  Mr. Freeland was a long-time dedicated teacher of physics and chemistry at Croswell-Lexington High School.  He attended numerous National Science Foundation Seminars to provide his students with exciting and current science and technology.  He inspired his students with a positive, respectful, and fun-learning environment.
