ESTHER M. CUPPEN SCHOLARSHIP WINNERS ANNOUNCED

Megan Jex, a 2016 graduate of Croswell-Lexington High School and Aleesha Klaty, a 2016 graduate of Carsonville – Port Sanilac High School, have been named this year’s recipients of the Esther M. Cuppen Scholarship.

Megan Jex - Cuppen, photoMegan was co-captain of the volleyball team and helped lead her team to become district champions her senior year.  As captain of the powerlifting team, Megan helped to lead them to their fifth state championship, placing second in the 105 weight class.  She was involved in various school activities such as NHS and Making Visions a Reality.  Megan plans to attend SC4 for two years then transferring to Central Michigan University to major in elementary education.  She is the daughter of Jeff and Susan Jex of Croswell.

Aleesha Klaty - Cuppen, photoAleesha was involved in the Careers in Education Program at the Sanilac Career Center.  She plans to attend Central Michigan University this fall and major in Early Childhood Development and Learning.  Aleesha is the daughter of Melissa and Merlin Klaty of Port Sanilac.

Eligible applicants for the annual scholarship must be graduating seniors of Croswell-Lexington High School and/or Carsonville-Port Sanilac High School who are in need of financial assistance to attend college in the field of education or related field.
