$17,350.00 in Grants Awarded

The Sanilac County Community Foundation is pleased to announce that $17,350.00 in combined grants were given to the following entities.

Heaven Sent; Shabbona Baby Pantry; Sandusky Schools; Croswell Lions; Suicide Prevention Committee; Peck Summer League; Blue Water Folk Society; Croswell Food Truck; Great Start Collaborative;

At the Sanilac County Community Foundation (SCCF) meeting held in June, recipients of the spring, 2016 grant round were on hand to receive their grant funds and to describe their funded projects.

  • Heaven Sent received a grant, funded by the Michigan Health Grant to be used toward food distribution.
  • Shabbona Outreach Baby Pantry received a grant, funded by the YAC (Youth Advisory Council) to be used toward diapers and formula.
  • Sandusky Community Schools received a grant, funded by the Michigan Health Grant to be used toward food distribution. They also received a grant, funded by the YAC (Youth Advisory Council) toward building visitor bleachers.
  • Croswell Lions Club received a grant, funded by the SCCF Board Discretionary Fund to be used towards baseball diamond renovation.
  • Suicide Prevention Committee received a grant, funded by the YAC (Youth Advisory Council) to be used toward the “Bring Light to Darkness & Suicide Prevention Walk”.
  • Peck Summer League received a grant, funded by the SCCF Board Discretionary Fund to be used toward electrical power to Cook Park.
  • Blue Water Folk Society received a grant, funded by the SCCF Board Discretionary Fund to be used toward the Community Involvement Track for Thumbfest.
  • Croswell Food Truck received a grant, funded by the SCCF Board Discretionary Fund to be used toward purchasing food for the food truck.
  • Great Start Collaborative Sanilac County received a grant, funded by the SCCF Board Discretionary Fund and the YAC (Youth Advisory Council) to be used toward the Great Start Preschool Scholarship Program.
  • Bluewater Thumb Youth for Christ received a grant, funded by the YAC (Youth Advisory Council) to be used toward a new furnace.
  • Peck School Weekend Food Program received a grant, funded by the Michigan Health Grant to be used toward the Weekend Food Program.
  • Marlette Elementary School received a grant, funded by the SCCF Board Discretionary Fund and the YAC (Youth Advisory Council) to be used toward “the HUB”.
  • Friends of the Thumb Octagon Barn received a grant, funded by the SCCF Board Discretionary Fund to be used toward Phase 3 of the Thumb Quilt Trail.
