The Sanilac County Community Foundation is pleased to announce Kate Hartman, Claire Jensen, Blake Newton, Justin Johnson and Madisyn Taylor as the 2025 recipients of the MVP Disc Sports Manufacturing Innovation Scholarship.

Kate Hartman, daughter of Lou and Stacie Hartman, graduated from Croswell-Lexington High School. During high school, she was involved in 4-H, FFA, and received her welding certification. Kate is attending Laramie County Community College in Cheyenne, Wyoming studying Natural Resource Management.

Claire Jensen, daughter of Scott and Michelle Jensen, graduated from Croswell-Lexington High School. During high school, she was actively involved in band, serving as Drum Major and first chair tuba. Claire is attending Michigan Technological University majoring in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering.

Blake Newton, son of Richard and Kristie Newton, graduated from Croswell-Lexington High School. During high school, he was involved in tennis, powerlifting, and Academic Games. Blake is attending Michigan State University pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering.

Justin Johnson, son of Suzanne and Richard Johnson, graduated from Carsonville-Port Sanilac High School. During high school, he played varsity basketball and volunteered within the school community. Justin is attending Ferris State University, where he is pursuing a degree in Construction Management.

Madisyn Taylor is the daughter of Melissa Murray and Andrew Taylor. During high school, she was involved in Student Council, National Honor Society and participated in softball, volleyball, track, basketball, and trap shooting. She was also a part of the Baja Team at the Sanilac Career Center. Madisyn is attending St. Clair County Community College pursuing a degree in Welding and Fabrication.

The MVP Disc Sports Manufacturing Innovation Scholarship was established to help graduates pursuing a higher education in skilled trades. As a manufacturing company, MVP Disc Sports feels there is a growing shortage of technical skills and that it is important to revitalize these skills so that we can remain competitive in the global manufacturing market.
