The Sanilac County Community Foundation is pleased to announce Zoey Hunter is this year’s 2021 Stanley G. Herron Memorial Scholarship recipient.

Zoey’s parents are Nichole Hunter and Shane and Abby Hunter. She is attending Central Michigan University to get a degree in Special Education

Stanley G. Herron was born January 16, 1905 in Port Sanilac.  In the spring of 1908, the family moved to Marlette and Stanley spent 30 years on a farm 4 miles northeast of town.  After leaving the farm, he was co-owner and operator of the Standard Service Station at the corner of Main and Ervin Streets in Marlette for 30 years.  Stanley received all of his schooling in Marlette and graduated with the Class of 1925.

 

Eligible applicants for the annual scholarship must be graduating seniors of Marlette High School and the recipient will be determined by the Stanley G. Herron Memorial Scholarship Fund Committee.
