The Sanilac County Community Foundation announces that Kristine Silverthorn and Ethan Sharrard are the recipients of the John Wilder Memorial Scholarship for 2020.

Kristine is the daughter of Carl and Kelly Silverthorn of Yale. She plans to attend Central Michigan University to study secondary education while majoring in English and minoring in mathematics. During high school, Kristine was very active in athletics, student council, national honor society, and 4-H. Her favorite sports to play are basketball and tennis. She enjoys spending time with her family and her 4-H pigs preparing for the fair.

 

 

Ethan is the son of Jeremy and Jody Sharrard of Peck. He is a 2020 graduate of Peck High School. During high school he played football all four years, track one year, was a FFA member for three years, and also participated in 4-H for nine years. Ethan works on the family’s dairy farm. This fall Ethan will be attending Central Lakes College to pursue a diesel tech certificate.

 

The John Wilder Memorial Scholarship was established by John’s family in his memory in 2010.  It is available to eligible graduating student athletes at Peck and Yale High Schools.
