The Sanilac County Community Foundation is pleased to announce that Hunter Childers, 2020 graduate of Carsonville-Port Sanilac High School, is the recipient of the Daryl Walker Scholarship.

Hunter is the son of Joe and Amanda Childers of Carsonville. During high school, he played football, track, basketball, and cross country. Hunter plans to attend Saint Clair County Community College.

The $1,000.00 scholarship was created in memory of Daryl Walker, former teacher and superintendent of Carsonville-Pt. Sanilac Schools (CPS).  Walker had a long history of making a positive impact on youth in the local community.  “Daryl’s final wish was to be able to continue to promote education for our community’s youth”, stated Walker’s wife, Nona.

This scholarship is administered by the Sanilac County Community Foundation.  For more information on scholarship opportunities through the Sanilac County Community Foundation, contact Melissa Anderson, Executive Director, at the Foundation office at 810-648-3634.
