Sanilac County Community Foundation is pleased to announce, Jennifer Newland is the recipient to receive the Robert Kenneth & Janette Grace Knight Scholarship.
Jennifer is the daughter of Gary and Kerri Newland of Marlette. Next fall, she will be attending Saginaw Valley State University to pursue a degree in Professional Business Accountancy. Throughout high school, Jennifer has received classroom awards in Algebra I, Algebra II, Geometry, Biology, World History, AP United States History, Foods & Nutrition, English 9, English 10, Honors English 11, Technology I, Technology II, Accounting, Personal Finance, Yearbook, Ferris State University’s English 150, earned three varsity letters for soccer and cross country, been named a Scholar Athlete, and been named academic-All Conference. Jennifer has served as class President for five years, Youth Advisory Council Secretary for three years, National Honor Society President and Vice President, Business Professionals of America chapter President, captain of the cross country team, captain of the JV volleyball team, student correspondent for the Tribune, Recorder, Leader, Marlette’s Daughters of the American Revolution’s Good Citizen, yearbook editor, math academic games team captain, been a member of the band, art club, and engineering club, as well as placed in the top 10 in the state for Business Professionals of America and the Daughters of the American Revolution essay contest.
The Robert Kenneth & Janette Grace Knight Estate left the Marlette Community Schools a very generous gift to provide scholarship grants to deserving graduates of Marlette High School who desire to further their education. Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Knight will be remembered for their concern for the future of the youth of Marlette.
