The Sanilac County Community Foundation is pleased to announce that Cindy Alexander graduated with honors from Carsonville-Port Sanilac High School, she was award these scholarships for her involvement in extra-curricular activities in school and her community.  She participated in basketball, softball, track, volleyball, class officer and National Honor Society member.  She was an active member of Sanilac County Youth Advisory Council for the past 4 years.

She will be attending Michigan State University where she will be studying Agribusiness.  Cindy is the daughter of Steve and Lisa Alexander of Carsonville.

The James Mitchell Memorial Scholarship was established in 1999 in his memory by his father, Max Mitchell. James died in an accident on M46 near the current location of Carsonville-Port Sanilac High School at graduation time in 1974.  The scholarship provides financial assistance to a CPS graduating senior planning to pursue a career in a vocation or trade.

The CPS Athletic Scholarship was created to assist scholar athletes graduating from Carsonville-Port Sanilac High School in their pursuit of a college education.

The Exchange State Bank Scholarship is administered by the Sanilac County Community Foundation.  This scholarship is awarded to an eligible student pursuing Finance or Accounting degree.

The Port Sanilac Garden Club Scholarship Fund was established in 2012.  The purpose of the fund is to fund one scholarship annually to a graduating senior who is continuing their education in agriculture / horticulture.

The $1,000.00 scholarship was created in memory of Daryl Walker, former teacher and superintendent of Carsonville-Pt. Sanilac Schools (CPS).  Walker had a long history of making a positive impact on youth in the local community.  “Daryl’s final wish was to be able to continue to promote education for our community’s youth”, stated Walker’s wife, Nona. “We are pleased to award this scholarship to Cindy”.
